4 Steps to Your Motorcycle License

Step 1: Preparation & the Learner's Permit 📋

1. First aid course: 10 hours, valid for 6 years.
2. Eye test: At an optician, not older than 24 months.
3. Apply for learner's permit: At the Zurich Road Traffic Office.
4. Pass theory test: If you don't have an existing license.

Step 2: The Mandatory Basic Course (PGS) 📚

Complete the practical basic course within the first 4 months. 12 hours in 3 parts. After completion, your permit is extended to 12 months.

Step 3: Practice & Riding Lessons 🏍️

Collect kilometers with private practice rides. Professional riding lessons are strongly recommended for exam preparation.

Step 4: The Practical Exam 🏆

Register at the Road Traffic Office. The test consists of a maneuver part and a ride in traffic. Passed? Congratulations!
